Family Restaurant Chain

The Challenge

An East Coast family restaurant chain of 21 locations is spending over $1,800 per month per location on HVAC energy use. That comes out to nearly $500,000 per year in energy expenses--just for climate control in the restaurants. In addition, nearly $40,000 is being spent on maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment annually. These excessive amounts could be better used by the business in efforts such as expansion or marketing. The WorldSTAT system was called upon to accept the charge of showing the capability to reduce energy costs dramatically.

The WorldSTAT Solution

Computrols installs two WorldSTAT devices per location to control and monitor each restaurant's four air-conditioning units. Each WorldSTAT feeds data to Computrols' Monitoring Center where trained HVAC professionals study and diagnose issues before they become big problems.

The Outcome

When energy savings become available to the business, it's much like having a whole new form of revenue at work. Truth is, it's money that was always there, just being wasted on inefficient energy policies. WorldSTAT's use in this restaurant chain application proved capable of saving the company almost $100,000 annually in energy and maintenance costs. Within the first six months of operation, the investment pays for itself. All savings after that go back into the company.
